The Government of India created Rural Infrastructure fund in the year 1995-96 with NABARD which is subsidiary of Reserve Bank of India for providing funds on loan basis to State Government for creating durable assets in the rural areas of the country. However, during the first year impetus remained for Agriculture, Horticulture and minor / medium irrigation sectors.

A total of 2137 Road and Bridge projects have been sanctioned till March 2022 from RIDF-II to RIDF-XXVIII i.e. 1996-97 to 2022-23.

During the year 2022-23, 106 numbers of Projects (98 roads and 08 Bridges) have been sanctioned under RIDF-XXVIII with total project cost of Rs. 559.35 crores.

At present 469 Number Road & Bridge projects amounting to Rs. 1900.25 crores are ongoing and an expenditure of Rs. 770.41 crores have been incurred on these projects upto 31/03/2023.
